Oranjemund CMP

Oranjemund (Orange mouth) is a town at the mouth of the Orange River in the south of Namibia. Established as a diamond-mining town in 1936, access to Oranjemund was always restricted to employees and their kin; in 2012, however, the town was finally proclaimed open and the very first local elections were held.

In the midst of these changes, BAR designed a master plan for the future development of Oranjemund. The ambitious proposal includes beach hotels, golf courses, a financial centre as well as an extension of the industrial zone. The mining town is ready to embrace a new era.
